The Healthcare Commission is responsible for setting the fees that are charged for the regulation of independent healthcare establishments.

In 2008/2009 we seeked to build on progress that we, and registered providers, have made in reducing the costs of regulation.

Before setting the fees, we were obliged to consult with interested parties and to obtain the consent of the Secretary of State for Health for our proposals.

Our regulatory impact assessment (partial), analysed the effects of proposed changes in regulation activities, in terms of costs and benefits and the likely impact on regulated bodies. After issuing the scheme of fees, in light of consultation and approval by the Secretary of State, a full impact assessment was also published alongside it.
