Memoranda of understanding

Memoranda of understanding support the development of strategic partnerships between the Healthcare Commission and its key external partners.

They are not legally binding agreements. However, they outline the framework and high level principles that the Commission and a particular partner have adopted to govern their relationship, including, among other things, the potential for either organisation to delegate functions to the other or to share information.

In most instances, memoranda of understanding specifically support the principles of the Concordat by promoting the delivery of more consistent and coherent programmes of inspection and a reduction in the burden of inspections.

The Healthcare Commission has entered into a number of memoranda of understanding with partner organisations and is developing a number of memoranda with other partners.
