The Commission
The Commission is our most senior decision-making group. Here you can find out about the role of the Commission, meet its members and find out about its regular meetings.
The Commission, which is made up of 15 people, led by Chairman Professor Sir Ian Kennedy, is responsible for:
- Exercising our statutory functions and duties.
- Making strategic decisions about how we operate and resource our activities.
- Overseeing the Executive team's management of our day-to-day business.
- Setting policies to manage any risks to our operations and to the achievement of our strategic objectives.
- Ensuring that our system of internal control is effective in managing risks in the way that the Commission has approved.
Membership
The majority of our commissioners must not be a healthcare professional or hold a paid appointment or office with an NHS body.
The Appointments Commission appoints all of our commissioners, including the Chair. You can find out more in Members of the Commission.
Commission meetings
The Commission holds regular meetings that are partly open to the public. Find out when and where the next meeting takes place, how to attend or send questions for the meetings, and read the minutes and related documents on past meetings in Meetings of the Commission.
