The Commission, which is made up of 15 people, led by Chairman Professor Sir Ian Kennedy, is responsible for:

• Exercising our statutory functions and duties.
• Making strategic decisions about how we operate and resource our activities.
• Overseeing the Executive team's management of our day-to-day business.
• Setting policies to manage any risks to our operations and to the achievement of our strategic objectives.
• Ensuring that our system of internal control is effective in managing risks in the way that the Commission has approved.

Membership

The majority of our commissioners must not be a healthcare professional or hold a paid appointment or office with an NHS body.
