Provision of cosmetic surgery in England
Provision of cosmetic surgery in England: a report for the Chief Medical Officer Sir Liam Donaldson. This report, conducted by the Healthcare Commission for the Chief Medical Officer, summarises the findings of an investigation into private cosmetic surgery in England.
It follows on from two reports prepared in 2003 by the Healthcare Commissions predecessor for independent health. The National Care Standards Commission.
In the report the Healthcare Commission examines the extent of compliance with standards by hospitals and clinics undertaking cosmetic surgery over the last two years. Information contributed by these organisations also provides an understanding of the numbers and types of procedures undertaken by the medical practitioners. In addition, the Healthcare Commission has been able to analyse complaints received about the provision of services.
