There are about 1,200,000 people with learning difficulties in the UK.

People with learning difficulties often suffer greater health problems than others.

They have a great need for healthcare.
Often they do not get what they need.

Audit of services

To help improve services in the NHS and independent healthcare organisations, we have carried out an audit of a range of services for people with learning difficulties across England.
An audit is a review of services which makes sure they are good quality and safe. It aims to find out how services can be made better.

Valuing people
Our work around learning disabilities is based on the aims in 'Valuing People'. This is a Government White Paper. The Government wants to make education, social services, health, employment, housing and support for people with learning disabilities, their families and carers better.
