Evaluation of the 2003 NHS staff survey
An independent research agency, SSMR, were commissioned to conduct an evaluation of the 2003 NHS staff survey process in early 2004. The report of this evaluation is based on written feedback from survey co-ordinators at more than 200 trusts, and detailed interviews with 15 trusts, 7 approved contractors, and the survey teams at the Advice Centre and CHI.
The findings of this evaluation were being used to inform improvements to the 2004 NHS staff survey procedures.
Please note that as the evaluation was commissioned and completed in the first quarter of 2004, the report refers throughout to CHI rather than the Healthcare Commission, which came into existence on 1st April 2004.
