Survey of adults treated in emergency departments
In 2004 the Healthcare Commission and Picker Institute Europe carried out a national survey asking patients across England about their experiences of emergency departments.
Emergency and outpatient department survey 2004/2005
The survey was carried out in all 153 acute NHS trusts in England that have an emergency department that treats adults. Questionnaires were sent to 129,948 patients and completed questionnaires were received from 55,339 patients, representing a response rate of 44%.
The findings were published on February 21st 2005.
