Independent healthcare information

This section of the site will bring you briefings on what we are doing around information for independent healthcare. This will include minutes and statements from the joint agency working group on independent healthcare information.

A joint agency working group on independent healthcare information has been set up, with members from:

  • Healthcare Commission
  • Health and Social Care Information Centre (Information Centre)
  • Department of Health

The group’s role is to promote and enhance the alignment of information across the NHS and independent sectors of healthcare.  We will publish our terms of reference, agendas, minutes of meetings and progress updates on this site.

We are defining how we will approach the following areas:

1.     Patient level information
2.     Alignment, development and deduplication of indicators
3.     Healthcare associated infections
4.     Serious untoward incidents and adverse events
5.     Patient surveys and patient reported outcome measures
6.     Mental health

We will engage with representatives from the independent healthcare sector on these areas, wherever possible using existing groups and forums.
