Acute hospital portfolio - diagnostic services 2005/2006

This page contains information on the 2005/2006 review of diagnostic services. This provides each NHS trust with both separate and integrated assessments of its endoscopy, imaging and pathology services.

These cover, for example,

waiting times for digagnostic examinations and reporting turnaround times
hours of service availability
patient information and other patient focus indicators
indicators of clinical quality such as appropriate reporting of imaging examinations, pathology accreditation and caecal intubation rates for colonoscopies
staffing and productivity, equipment and throughput
use of information technology and availability of management information

Colonoscopy Sedation Audit

Benchmarking reports from the mini clinical audit for colonoscopy sedation and completion developed jointly by the British Society for Gastroenterology and the Healthcare Commission have now been e-mailed to participating endoscopy units . We would still welcome more data from other endoscopy units or updated audit findings. A more flexible and robust version of the audit tool can be downloaded by right-clicking on this link:

Acute Trust Diagnostic Reports

The topic guide below provides background information on the indicators that were calculated from the data provided by trusts in Autumn 2005. Trusts received feedback between March and May 2006 from local Audit Commission appointed staff on their relative performance across a range of indicators.
