Acute hospital portfolio - management of admissions 2005/2006

The management of admissions review covers both elective and emergency patients from admission (including waiting list management) through to discharge. It includes indicators of access, patients’ experience, and efficiency together with some measures of context or capacity. A survey of heart failure patients admitted as an emergency has also been carried out as part of this review.

Annual health check

The management of admissions review will feed into the annual health check for most acute trusts (excludes specialist trusts that do not have an A&E department).

Feedback

Data collection is complete for this review and trusts have received feedback on their individual performance from their local auditors. They have also been supplied with the provisional data via a CD. The CDs are available to trusts by emailing our helpline: acutehospitalportfoliohelpline@healthcarecommission.org.uk
