The safer management of controlled drugs - Annual report 2007

Under the new regulations, we are required to report yearly on our findings in relation to the management of controlled drugs, and on trends both in good practice and in common system errors.

This is our first annual report , covering the period 1 January to 31 December 2007, the first operational year of the new regime. In the report, we set out the activities that have been put in place, assess how well the new arrangements are working, and make recommendations to further ensure the safety of patients.

A joint report published by the Healthcare Commission and the Audit Commission. We assess the impact of Government policies, covering the 10-year period from 1997 to 2007, that sought to improve the health of people in England and tackle inequalities in health. We look at whether these policies achieved their objectives, and we recommend ways that further progress can be made.
