Service reviews using improvement review methodology

Service reviews using the improvement review methology can be applied to a variety of healthcare settings, including patient treatment pathways, different disease groups, and services for patient groups. The approach is standardised, information-based and highly targeted.

Two key stages

A service review using this methodology has two stages. First, we assess the performance of all the trusts taking part. Then we work with around 10% of them – chosen because they have the weakest scores in our assessment – to help them develop action plans for improving their performance.
