Healthcare providers

Service reviews using AHP methodology

Our acute hospital portfolio (AHP) reviews measure NHS trusts’ performance in specific areas of healthcare, with a focus on balancing value for money with quality of care. The portfolio was originally developed by the Audit Commission and transferred to the Healthcare Commission in April 2004.

These service reviews look at indicators of quality of care, efficiency and effectiveness. Our aim is to help trusts to improve services, by providing local reports for each trust, national findings, and an electronic tool that enables each trust to benchmark its performance against that other trusts (Compare).
